Question:
I am having severe pain in my pouch area, that radiates out to around my back.
I ate some fajitas at Chilis. Barely ate any. As I was chewing a bite that was too big anyway (bad girl) I felt a huge chunk of meet just leap down my throat. I was worried for a second, but got over it. Well that whole night when I drank water I burped and burped like crazy. I went to bed thinking that when I woke up it would be better but I have this overwhelming need to vomit. I try and try and all I get up is white foamy stuff and a little bit of blood. I just tried a sip of water right now and immediately feel like I need to burp. I just feel full. Now if something is blocking my stoma, shouldn't I be able to throw it up? I am a little freaked out here. Thanks. — Nichole B. (posted on June 18, 2002)

I've had the "pain in the back" issue quite a bit and have had
the burping issue also. The thing that scares me about your question is the
"bleeding" part. I'm no expert, but it sounds like you should
get to your doctor ASAP. Ususally when I get too much in I can throw up
and feel much better. But I've never bled when I had to throw up. So I
would call and get in to see the doc immediately.

Original poster. It was hurting so bad that I took some leftover vicodin
from immediately post-op. Felt better until I woke up and it started all
over again. My dr's office is supposed to be open after 1pm, but at 1:20
they still weren't there and I gave up and went to bed. Unless it gets
really bad tonight, I will just try the office again tomorrow. I am trying
hot tea right now and I swear I just just feel it sitting in my pouch. I
could point to exactly where my pouch is at this moment. Does anyone have
any idea why I *can't* throw this up, I have tried and tried. What makes
this sillier is that yesterday I drove 2 hours to see my doctor, everything
was fine, and he was so proud of me he gave me a hug. Ha. Oh, and the
last time I threw up, I threw up blood, I called my doctor and 3am and he
told me to drink cold water and not worry about it, it was probably from my
throat and from trying so hard.

I haven't tried this but I have heard that a good solution to your problem
would be to disolve some meat tenderizer in warm water and drink it. That
should disolve the meat.
I ate some grapes one night and didn't chew well enough - didn't notice the
problem til the next day when I woke up nauseated. I was in pain and was
sick all day. I finally ate a couple of popsicles (sugar free) and after
that, threw up. And there was the offending grape skin. But it took
almost 24 hours before I brought it up. I peel my grapes now.
