Question:
Decrease in appetite 6 weeks post-op, not complaining, just wondering why.
I had open RNY Jan 15th. After my surgery I did not feel this constant fullness that some other people feel. I had horrible head hunger and felt like my stomach was always growling. I felt like I could eat way too much, I could eat 10 crackers and 2 oz. of string cheese easily. A whole gardenburger with fat free cheese no problem. Starting about 5 days ago things have changed. Just now I ate three crackers with less than 1 oz. string cheese and threw the rest away, I was so stuffed. I have been eating half a gardenburger. And I don't *feel* like eating anymore, it seems like such a hassle. I have been watching the food channel and I can appreciate that the food looks really good, but I don't want to eat it. This just seems so opposite of what I have been reading in the library, like when the swelling goes down you can eat a little more I have read. I am taking in fluids ok and having regular BMs so I am not afraid of anything being stuck. But has anyone else had this experience? I hope it lasts. =) — Nichole B. (posted on February 26, 2002)

I am also 6 weeks post-op but I do get full quickly. But, you have peaked
my interest in this garden burger. I'm still trying to figure out what will
digest o.k.. Cheese and potato soup are it.

I felt the same way back then and your right to hope it lasts. You lose the
most weight during this time and eating eventually comes back. So enjoy it
while you have it. I miss those times!
