Question:
My Surgeon recommended exercise for my back before WLS in 4 1/2 weeks.
He said that strengthening my back muscles will help after surgery. What are some good exercises I can do at home and/or work? I don't belong to a gym...yet. — [Anonymous] (posted on February 8, 2002)

I have a million and one different excersizes for the back. Depending on
what area you want to strengthen, each exersize will affect a different
area. A good all around exersize/stretch is to lie on the floor, on your
back, knees bent and together. keeping your hips flat on the floor let
your knees (still bent) touch the floor on one side and hold that for a
full thirty seconds, then touch knees to the floor on the other side.
Also, lie on the floor and hook your hands behind one knee and pull towards
your chest. alternate. That one is more of a stretch but really helps your
abs and is pretty easy.
E-mail me if you need more info or exersizes.
