I am 4.5 months post DS and I eat 1500-2000 cals a day. I get 80-100 grams
of protein. I eat around 120 carbs a day and 100 g of fat a day. Today
this is what I had:
AM: 16 oz coffee with light cream
1 egg, 1 slice cheese, 2 oz sausage, 1/2 onion with butter
Lunch: 10 oz Shake and Bake Chicken, 1/3 cup corn, Butter
Snack: 2 oz Sour cream potato chips
Dinner: 2 large slices of Pepperoni pizza
Snack: 4 ritz crackers with squezzy cheese and Carmel nut blast Protein
Bar
I had a lot of carbs today, most days I have alittle candy and more
protein.
I have lost 80 lbs and am very happy with my quality of eating. I eat
totally normal. I have almost normal BM's, softer not loose, just 1 a day
instead of 1 every otherday.. No vomiting since surgery AT ALL!!!!!!!!

100 GRAMS OF FAT?!?!?!?! I'm sorry, but I had an intestinal bypass many
years ago, and because I didn't change BAD habits like reducing calories
and fat grams I am now back up to 270lbs. PLEASE....use your tool wisely
or, believe me you WILL regret it.

OMG!!! I read your message from your first poster and can't even imagine
eating all that in one day right now, lol! I am four months out also, I
drink a protein drink in the morning, eat a protein bar for lunch, and eat
whatever I cook for my family for supper (sometimes it goes down and stays
down well, other times it doesn't & I throw it up, it's all trial and
error). I snack on a few sunflower seeds, a cheese stick, a FF & SF
popsickle, etc.. I watch my nutritional lables closely, it was recommended
(BTC) that I keep below 10% fat, below 2G sugar, but high protein. I also
drink LOTS of V8 juice (I don't get in a lot of veges), and of course, LOTS
of water. I would definately stay away from fried foods and foods that are
high in sugar, not because of dumping, but they simply are not good for
you. Good Luck!

If you look at the first poster she has had d/s. D/s patients can, in fact
have, to eat a lot more than rny patients. At 4 months I could have an egg
and two pc of bacon (really one pc cut in half to make short strips) and I
would try to make an omelet and add some sort of veggie into the egg,
mushroom or spincach or red peppers or all of the above. Lunchtime is
usually a box dinner like healthy choice, lean cuisine, weight watchers, or
whatever last night's leftovers are. at 3 I usually have a small snack of
about 1/2 an apple with some cheese or peanut butter, a pc of lunchmeat
rolled in lettuce, you get the idea. Supper is whatever the family is
having just less. And a pro shake around 9. In between I drink tons of
water and work in all the vites and calcium. Good luck:)

Tahnk you Becky K for realising that I had the DS, not the RNY. It really
get me peved off when people say things like OMG!!! 100 g of Fat, Use your
tool wisely. I am using my tool wisely. For a normal person 65-80 g of
fat is what is recommended for a 2000 cal diet. I malabsorb fat. My Dr.
said I absorb 30% of fat I eat. If I eat 100 grams of fat a day I only
absorb 30g way below the average. I really get mad when someone says use
your "tool". I am using my tool, my tool is just different than
yours. Thank GOD!!!!! I am eating normal, losing my weight and I am
happy!!! Can you say the same thing? If yes than great!! Can you eat and
drink at the same time? Can you eat without puking? Can you eat with out
pulversising your food for 3 mins? Can you have fruit or sugar without
feeling sick to death and wanting to die? I can!!! It really bugs me when
some of you people lump all WLS into one RNY catagory. There are other
types of surgery out there. Please reconise that!!! I had the DS so I
could be normal, and as I see it I am!! I feel bad for so of you people
out there if you have to OMG other people to make yourselves feel good
about your "Tool".

To anonymous........First of all I apologize for upsetting you, that was by
no means my intention. Please see my post again..it says I had the
intestinal by-pass. Basically it was the precursor to the DS. I did not
have my stomach touched. I too was able to eat anything I wanted in any
amount. I may have payed for it in the bathroom, but that was it. I was
never taught how to eat wisely so that when the intestines compensated, I
was able to maintain the weight loss. So, I kept eating all those fats
grams that I was able to pass so easily before. Please understand your
surgery is also a tool. I hate to see anyone end up in my situation
longing for those honeymoon days. Please forgive me for my concern.

I am sorry to jump on you. I was mainly talking about RNYer's. I will take
your advice and really think about what I eat. I didn't realize the
intestines can compensate, after weight loss. I am just SICK of people
jumping on my back about RNY. How great it is and how I should have it or
I am not normal. I will think about my eating, and thanks for your advice.
What are you going to do now? Are you goiung to have a revision? If so
what surgery? Good luck!!!!

If you look at my profile, I have listed "a day in the life"
which I wrote at about 4-5 months post-op. I did have the RNY but am one of
the lucky ones who can eat almost anything (not bread and sugar) and don't
have to overly chew things and don't throw up. So take it with that grain
of salt. :)

Anonymous.....hehe as much as I hate to say knowing your feelings, I NEED
to go with the RNY. IMO since a portion of my intestines have already been
by-passed, I need to learn that control of portions and aversions to
particular foods. Thats what got me back to where I am. To the original
poster......ONLY YOU can decide which is best for you!! I like the other
anonymous wanted some semblence of a normal life so went with the
intestinal/ds, others need the control of the rny. Research all of them,
listen to everyones opinions, but make up your own mind as to what is best
for YOU and your lifestyle. Remember, with any that you choose you WILL
have to make some kind of changes at some point to maintain the weight you
lose.

To the FIRST POSTER: I'm sorry you took my post wrong. I was not OMGing
you, I OMGed at the thought of MYSELF eating that much. I do know that
every surgery and every weight loss is different and was not 'lumping' you
into my catagory. I did have open RNY, but no, I don't 'dump', I can eat
and 'sip' at the same time, and no, I am not miserable, lol! I eat what I
eat by choice, not because I have to, trying to build on the habits that I
learned from MY 'tool'. Forgive me if I sounded derogatory toward you, I
truly did not mean to. Congratulations on your weight loss!
