Question:
I have lost about 120 lbs. in 8 months; most of my weight was in my abdomen.
I have severe sagging skin problems at this point in my stomach. Eventually, I will need a tummy tuck, but I still have about 70 lbs. to lose before I'm at my kinda-goal weight. Meantime, I have this huge sagging stomach. I know this is gross, but I'm wondering if anyone else experienced this, and what do you recommend? My mom recommended a girdle, but if I get one that will fit up top, it won't go over the abdomen, and if I get one that goes over the abdomen, it'll bag like crazy on top. I'm truly not a vain person, it's just disconcerting to see this stomach problem. I know that eventually the TT will take care of this, but I sure would like to do something so I feel less saggy. Any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks! — Mary Ellen W. (posted on January 14, 2002)

Why don't you get one of those body slimming suits. They have a built in
bra and are something like a swim suit with a girdle built in. You wear it
under your clothes in place of your bra. You buy it by your bra size.

I am anticipating this same problem and I have been thinking about a girdle
I had for pregnancy (in 1955!) which had laces up each side in front.
Maybe they don't make them any more, but perhaps they do, and they would be
ideal. I have plans to check this out later. Nina (surgery 2/21/02!)

You might also look into wearing a one-piece exercise suit. I think
they're called unitards. They're made of spandex and I've seen them in
both long and short legs.

I have also seen a special type panty that provides lots of support to the
abdominal area. I have seen them at department stores. You could call and
ask before going out to search. Good luck.

Get a waist cincher. I have not used one in years but Penneys used to sell
them. They are girdles that you just snap around your torso without the bra
attached, that way you can get the size you need for your stomach.
