Question:
Does anyone know if a Physician Assistant can refer you

My regular PCP will not recomend me for surgery but I think my PA will. Has anyone had this problem.    — [Anonymous] (posted on November 16, 2001)

I had the same problem as you, I knew my PCP would not recomend it but his Physician Assistant did...I am now 2 months out from a Lap RNY and down about 40lb's..Good Luck..

If your PCP refduses to refer you then tell him he is loosing a customer, you are changing PCPs over his refusal. Doctors are businessmen and dont want to loose you, because it costs them money.

My PCP is a PA. I've had no problem with her refering me for any kind of procedure. She even refered me to a bone and joint clinic for carpel tunnel ssurgery and I was approved right away. But, first check with your insurance company to find out what their policy is on referrals.
