Question:
Does the bypassed amount absorb anything, or does it absorb nutrients further down?

Ok, there are a thousand questions on bypassed intestines, but I was wondering about this... I had 150cm bypassed, so it is still there, but moved up to my pouch. The stomach is transected and connected down at the 150cm mark. Are the intestines from the pouch to the stomach connection functional, in other words, are they absorbing anything, or is it just a long pathway until stomach enzymes start absorbing the food at the 150cm mark? Can one survive without the transected stomach?    — arebella (posted on October 29, 2001)
