I wish I had the magic answer for you, but only YOU can make the decision if this is right for you or not. Sounds to me like you have sleep apnea and a few other comorbids. But it sounds like you are still "on the fence". You have to be sure that this is what you want, because it is PERMANENT!! Weigh all the pro's and con's and make an informed decision. I know this surgery is right for me. I wish you the best.

Only you can answer that question. If you choose to have it, you must be committed and determined to let the "tool" work for you. It still requires you to show some control and maturity to make a lifelong change. It doesn't seem very easy without your spouse's support, but I bet it can be done. Research it well and try to understand all the changes that are needed to be successful. I knew it was my last chance. I knew what was in store and I'm determined to do it correctly without whining. Everyone is in shock that it has been so "easy" for me. I just do what I must do to use my tool. Good luck with a tough decision.

It was definately right for me. But I knew that immediately and didn't feel I needed anyone elses opinion on the matter, so perhaps you aren't quite ready yet. What I want to share with you now, however, is something that I (we) have learned through this board and as a result of our jouneys...be very aware of the effect of sugar and carbohydrates on how you feel, and on how they affect your energy level and your mood. Most of us, prior to surgery also had "never ending sugar and carbohydrate binges" (or something similar). Of course, surgery put a quick end to them. I have learned, however, that when I do not get enough protein, I crave sugar and starchy carbos like crazy. If I am getting my protein, I have no interest in either sugar or carbos. Why don't you just try to reduce (eliminate, if possible)sugar and carbs for a while. I'd bet the farm that you would have so much more energy and feel so much better that you might be more able to make a good decision about your future and wls. Don't forget to up the protein intake dramatically. Use protein supplements if necessary, they are easy.

Hi Kim...I think that you need to first understand that you are doing this for YOU not your husband or your kids. When it comes down to it on YOU will be able to make this HUGE life style change. I know for me it was just the fear of dieing at such a young age and sitting around as my life passed me by so terribly unhappy. Im tired of feeling sorry for myself and crying everytime I am unable to do certain things and missing out on all the fun I could be having because I am trapped in this shell of a body! Think long and hard and if you do decide to go through with it dont let anybody change your mind! Take good care of yourself and stay strong..and..welcome to our family. Love..Cheri
