If it's protein from food that you want, stick to the foods that come from
animals. Milk, cheese, poultry, beef, and fish. Also, a good snack is a
lowfat/low sugar peanut butter. 8 grams of protein in 2 tbsp.

Peanut butter I find is very good and it is very filling. It holds you for
at least 2 hours and it does have a lot of protein. Peanuts as well. Not
too many though. I eat about 15. I had the gastric band not the bypass.
So your doctor may not let you have the peanuts I am not sure. Fish is
very good as well. Good Luck.

I found cottage cheese was a good way to get protein. You can eat it when
you're on pureed foods and it's a good thing to order at restaurants. Try
different brands till you find one you like.

Also egg white for high protein, low calorie.

I know that "right" after surgery you can't have this but after
awhile other foods might start getting boring.
I love jerky and cheese sticks! It's a great protien combo. and very tasty.
My favorite are the Tilamook beef nuggets.

I ate beef jerky around 10 days post op (might have been 7 days- I forgot
which). I was supposed to be on pureed foods so I chewed it until it was
liquid. Worked fine. But if you do it, only have a tiny bite and wait 5-10
minutes before another bite. It can swell in your stomach so you want to
make sure it's ok before you continue eating it.

I have a mini food processor that has been a lifesaver for me. When I was
on puree food I would put a small can of tuna or chicken in it with a
little light Miracle Whip and maybe some onion for flavor. I would whip it
up until it was smooth. This is a great way to get protein and still have
soft food. I also use the food processor to make egg salad. I bet I eat
close to a dozen eggs a week between egg salad, hard boiled eggs and
scrambled eggs. I try to cut down on the egg yolk whenever possible to
reduce the amount of fat.
