Question:
How many timesdo you return to the surgeon's office after your incission heals?
I just saw my surgeon today and have a question about followup care. How many timesdo you return to the surgeon's office after your incission heals? Is after care managed by the surgeon 1 year to 2 years out or by your family doctor? Thanks Gwen — Gwen T. (posted on July 12, 2001)

Hi Gwen! I think that varies by surgeon. My surgeon sees his WLS patients
at 2 weeks, 4 weeks, then once a month for a year...and then once a year
for life. Additional visit as needed... i/e/ I saw mine for probs with
incision....dehydration....stricture...and I am only 6 weeks post op...lol.
One of the reasons I chose my Surgeon was because he is REALLY into
aftercare!!! Good Luck, Karan

Hi Gwen,
I had an open BPD/Ds on 4/11. My follow up is: 3 weeks,3 months,6 months,9
months, 12 months then 1x year after that.(unless needed sooner) Blood work
starts at 3 months.

Hi, Gwen. My surgeon's follow-up is the same as the last post: 3 weeks, 3
months, 6 months, 12 months and once a year. blood work at 3 months and 12
months. I'll have to go in at 9 months, though, He wants to check on a
possible small hernia on my left side.
