Question:
2 months post-op with re-stapling very hungry and could eat much more than allowed.
Success rate of revised patients. Dr. said only 50%. Are you hungry? I am afraid this didn't work and very upset. — Karen B. (posted on July 9, 2001)

Karen, I tried to see what you were revised from but couldn't tell, it only
said you were re-stapled instead of transected. Did you have an RNY before
or a VBG? I was revised last year from VBG to RNY and I could hold more
post op with the RNY than with the VBG because I no longer had a band. If
you were revised from RNY to RNY, did the doctor say anything about your
stoma being stretched? If your stoma is stretched, it is my understanding
that you can eat more because it is immediately funneled into the intestine
so your pouch doesn't really fill up. I never heard about the 50% success
rate of revisions. I got to my goal of 160 in less than a year and
although I have regained some because of bad eating choices I know I can
get it back off again. I consider myself a 100% success and never was told
to expect less, only told to expect to lose slower this time. It didn't
happen although I had lots more plateaus. If you want to talk more, feel
free to e-mail me directly or join the OSSG-revision list if you have not
already done so.
