Question:
self-insured not having to comply with states regulations

I am fighting an exclusion. I have been quoted SB 172 selfinsured companies do not answer to federal ( except COBRA) or state regs. Is this BS or true.    — Cindee A. (posted on May 4, 2001)

I can tell you that is true for how they process claims and the requirements they put on physicians. I cannot believe it would be any different regarding how they determine coverage. Self-funded has long been a way of skirting the regulations.
