Question:
Has anyone in the 50 age bracket over 400 lbs had surgery
I have been reading everything on this website and most people seem to be in the 250-300 weight range. I would like to have some feed back from those in this category for a better understanding of what I might be facing. — Gwen T. (posted on May 3, 2001)

I was 47 at the time of my surgery. On my surgery date, I was 437.7 lbs.
I have been doing very well. It really has not been as tough as I expected
to be honest. The main thing is the diet modification. I have had a lot
of years to eat whatever I want, which is why at one point I weighed 458
lbs. Since my surgery, it has not been a real struggle NOT to eat the
sweets and all. I am very conscious of the fact that we have a window of
ideal weight loss (about 12-18-24 months depending on your body). I want
to have all of my weight off successfully within that time frame. I was
back at work in 3 weeks after surgery. The operation couldn't make me 25
again.. but some days... I feel like it! Good luck and if you have any
questions at all please feel free to email Diane C (down -150 lbs in 7
months)
