Hello Everyone. I need help, I am one week post op and I am able to eat 4 Tbs of food at one time. I know that my stomach is only supposed to hold 1 ounce of food, but why am I eating so much? Any help or advice would lbe great. — [Anonymous] (posted on April 30, 2001)

How long is it taking you to eat these 4tbs? If it is taking you 30
minutes, you needn't worry. It also depends upon what you are having. A
clear liquid will leave the pouch very quickly. I recommend contacting
your nutritionist just to reassure yourself. I recall eating 1/4 cup egg
salad and a 1/2 cup of soup early on, (maybe not a week but definately 2-3
weeks)

It all depends on the consistency of the food. Really liquidy or extremely
well-chewed food goes through the pouch quickly, allowing you to eat a bit
more than the pouch size. I don't think you have a problem. Just measure
your food so you don't eat more than you want to at a time.
