Patti, I had the vertical stapling (VBG) in 97 and was revised to an RNY
last year. There are many people who had staplings done around my time and
many before that have been revised to either BPD/DS or RNY so it most
certainly CAN be done. Don't fear that. Do some research in your state to
see what surgeons there are well-versed in revision surgeries and what
their experience has been with YOUR particular type of surgery and go from
there. For more information, may I suggest you join our OSSG-revision
group on Yahoo! Groups. You will find that you are not alone and you will
get a wealth of information from those who are either looking into
revisions or, like me, have already had their revision. Best of luck to
you!

Patti,
I had the exact surgery you had in 1982. I went to a WLS surgeon and asked
him waht he could do and he explained the options to me. As you allready
know the surgery we had has a very high failure rate. I am waiting on
approval from my insurance company now and will be having a revision to the
RNY (bypass). Good luck & do it!!!!

VBG 1984 revised to RNY in 2000. I'm down 143 lbs! Just wish I had done
it sooner. You can be revised to any surgery, just be sure you check out
the best for you.
