Hi Shannon! While I don't live in California, I did a little research for
you. Go to the top of any page and click on "insurers", then
click on your state and then insurers A-E. They are listed alphabetically,
scroll down the list. I saw severalpeople with BC/BS Californiacare.
Although their names are not listed, their e=mail addresses are. Maybe you
could e-mail them and ask your specific questions. When I was just
starting, I felt like I was the only one with my insurance and I had no
idea where to start. Hopefully, this will help you!

Hi, I have Blue Cross of Ca. ppo and I called around to the surgeons
offices until I found one that took my ins. and made an appt. with him.
Good luck,

Shannon, you didn't say if you had HMO or PPO. I have Blucross California
Care HMO and I had to get approval from my pcp. That was the easy part, I
got it within one week. Then I was able to have my surgeon consilt.
Now I am waiting for approval. The insurance covers the surgery if the
medical group finds it medically necessary, so the approval request then
goes to the medical group for surgery approval. That's where I am at right
now. If you have any more questions you are welcome to e-mail me
