Question:
Is it dangerous to have this surgery if you are hypoglycemic ?

When I had diabetes (pre-op), I frequently had hypoglycemic occurences. My
internist told me that hypoglycemia was first cousin to hyperglycemia, both
caused by uncontrolled insulin levels. Since surgery, I haven't needed any
meds for diabetes, my blood sugars are completely normal (not too high OR
too low), I can eat desserts with abandon (I had a DS, not a RNY, so
dumping isn't a danger for me) and so on. So, it's possible WLs may help
your hypoglycemia. Talk to your internist. If losing weight will help your
condition, then WLS could be the solution for you. That's something that
only you and your internist can determine. If sugar intake is a concern
with the RNY, you should research the DS option (www.duodenalswitch.com)
and see if it's right for you.
