Question:
Do all women start their period after surgery, or just some?
Queston#2, I take effoxor time released, for prevention of migraine headaches, not depression. Does one need to go off effexor before sugery? I know there can be a lot of complications w/various meds, mixed w/ anastasia. — Cindee A. (posted on March 5, 2001)

I got my period about 2.5 weeks after surgery; right on schedule.

The surgery causes many women to start their period immediately after
surgery.

I got my period the day after surgery, but that is when it was due. It
really wasn't that bad. None of the hospital staff even knew. Some things
you keep to yourself and I didn't go announcing it. Good luck to you.

The surgery caused mine to start. Being morbidly obese had stopped me from
having periods. I hadn't had one in a year. So when the trauma of the
surgery made me start, it was very heavy and I bled for 2 weeks. Just a
heads up on what you might expect. God bless you on this journey.

I was warned it may happen and I wasn't surprised it started that night
after surgery. I'd had my period about a week before surgery so this was a
double whammy. I've been told it has something to do with the blood
thinners they inject into you.

Ask your surgeon about the Effexor. I got my period before being
discharged from the hospital.
