Question:
Im 3 months post op after open proximal RNY and I can eat 3/4 of a hamburger
Is this normal. I have not lost but 30 pounds and have not lost one pound in three weeks. Seems like i want to eat all the time. I stay hungry. Concerned about having a disruption. Anyone else experience this kind of appetite. — kcraig (posted on December 28, 2000)

KC Craig--
Hi! I think it also depends on what kind of hamburger you're talking
about. I am six months post op and can eat most of a small cheeseburger
from Mcdonalds. I can't eat any fries or anything else with it but I can
eat most of the burger. I agree with Al though...you probably need to make
an appointment with your surgeon just to check things out and be sure.
Good luck!!

I'm having the same problem, today is exactly 3 months post op and I have
lost about 40 lbs from the 100 I need to loose. I have not lost any for the
past 3 weeks and can eat a McDonald's cheeseburger minus 1/2 of the bun
plus some fries and then in an hour or so I can eat a little more. I want
to eat all the time. I have never thrown up - nothing negative happens if I
eat too much and it's hard to tell when I'm hungry and when I'm full. I was
hoping the surgery would free me from eating too much but I guess I need
more help. This isn't much of an answer and I'm not sure how much it really
relates to your experience. I have a follow up appointment with my surgeon
on 01-08 and I'll talk to him about this. Then I may check out OA or some
other suport-weight loss program and maybe, since I do eat so much less
than I did before, I may be able to have some success this time at changing
my thoughts, feelings and behaviors around eating. God Bless, Troya
