Question:
Has anyone lost weight that hasn't really walked alot? And how much did you lose?

I had bpd/ds surgery on May 30, 2000 and have lost 116# so far. I have not
walked because of some vascular problems but have lost weight at a very
regular rate. I am a teacher and do get some exercise at school but a very
limited amount. Since a lot of my health problems are disappearing due to
the weight loss, I hope that I will be able to begin a regular walking
program in the spring. If you have further questions, please feel free to
email me. Good Luck.

Hi Antoinette. I have lost 62 lbs. in almost 5 months - and I am 3 lbs.
shy of losing 50% of my excess weight. I'm not the fastest loser. In this
time, I walked or exercised consistently for about a month - which resulted
in my best weight loss outside of that which was immediately post-op. To
answer your question, yes, you can still lose weight without exercising,
but it will be slower.

Hi Antoinette, I had open RNY on 10/23/00. I have at this time lost 55
pounds. Due to complications from my surgery, I cannot do very much at all.
I do very little housework (dishes, vacuum) etc. due to the pain. I have
fluid around my liver and where my gall bladder was. I hope after having
it aspirated that I will be able to get more PHYSICAL with excercise. I am
loosing, but it is very slow and I do have alot of 3-4 day plateaus. Good
luck~~~

Hi! I have not done any walking at all. As a matter of fact, I haven't done
much of anything in the past 8 months since my open RNY opened. It stayed
open for 4 months. I also had an incisional hernia, so I couldn't do any
abdominal stretching. I had that repaired 10-23, so I'm still healing from
that. I am 10# below my goal weight. I hope when I do start exercising that
I don't lose anymore weight. I'm in a size 4 jeans!!! --

I lost 150# in about 13 months of my distal RNY. I didnt' walk due to
joint problems or in fact, do much in the way of organized exercise. I am a
busy person, so also am not sitting around a lot. I made it to a size 3
and still hold to size 3 or 5 without massive exercise. I am a firm
believer in doing as much as I can nutritionally to hold me steady, because
my joints still ache, even though they are obviously better than they once
were.

Hi-I had an open RNY on May 3rd of this year (almost 8 months ago), and to
date have lost 122 pounds. I can't walk alot-just normal walking at the
stores or at home, due to severe arthritis in both feet. I do keep active,
but that's it. My surgeon said not to worry-that eventually I will feel
some relief from the arthritis-hope it's soon!
