Question:
I heard conflicting info re: soda.......
Okay now, I was told by my doctor, Never to touch soda, that he has had patients have to be readmitted after drinking soda and how dangerous it is. (carbonation)Then I read on all these postings how people drink diet coke and rum, etc, mix protein drinks with soda, etc. I am so confused! How can they be drinking it if it clearly can hurt you? Please explain to me! Signed, an ex-diet coke drinker (post op 6 weeks) — [Anonymous] (posted on September 13, 2000)

You may have soda if you let it go completely flat first. Personally,
can't stand flat soda so I just leave it alone.4 months post-op,
open RNY, down 92 lbs.

My doctor lets us drink it. I love it and I'm not willing to give it up.
I have had great success with weight loss thus far and don't think it's
hindered me in any way. As far as pouch stretching, no. My pouch is very
small and I get full so easily. I personally, through experience, think
it's ok and nothing to worry about.
