Question:
Hurricane season is here. What unrefrigerated foods can I keep to eat post op?
The first Hurricane of the season is around the corner here in South Florida. I am scheduled for surgery right in the middle of this season and never thought about it till now. My doctor recommends ONLY high protein immediately after surgery. Can you all give me suggestions of canned, boxed or mix with water things that I should stock up on just in case we get stuck for a few days? I am only thinking tuna right now. Thanks!! — Marilyn M. You can keep protein bars and shakes unrefrigerated for the season. Ultra
Pure Protein comes ready made in a can and even though it is better cold,
it would be perfectly safe to drink while you have no power. You don't need
milk or even water to mix it with. It is ready to go on it's own. Look for
a few things to keep around like that. Then once you get power and are able
to get supplies again you can go back to things that you may enjoy more.
Good Luck this season...

How about canned refried beans, soups and tuna? I bet it is wierd to have
to consider those issues! Good luck to you!
