Question:
Is it possible to vomit up food eaten 18 hours before hand?
I had 4 peices of small shrimp out of a Chinese dinner. I had no problems for two hours. Then I tried to drink something. This made me vomit. It felt like my stomach was still full. I took a pepcid ac and went to bed. For breakfast I had 2oz of yogurt. My stomach felt a little funny. Well 2 hours later at Walmart I threw up and there was shrimp in my vomit--trust me on this one. It used to bother me but now it is a part of my life. Is it still possible for food to be vomited 18 hours later? I know this subject is not a fun one. Maybe I will never be able to eat meat? Maybe I have an ulcer? Maybe someone will be able to help me? I had a Small Pouch Gastric Bypass on 3-7-00. Started at 320 and now am at 253. 67 pounds gone in eleven weeks. I feel good. But now I have gone from a love relationship with food to a hate relationship with food. I don't want to eat because I am not hungry and if I try something new I will probably get sick. My Doctor had me on soft liquids for 9 weeks. Thank you for any help that is given. I love this site. Usually I am just a spectator unless I have experienced the same. Thanks again, Judy. — Judith K. I haven't had the surgery yet, but that happens to me quite often...Food I
had the day before comes up. I tend to believe that it is too much food
backed up in a small area. Usually I am extremely uncomfortable when this
happens. Perhaps this will give me some insight as to how much food I can
tolerate after the surgery.

If you were able to visualize the shimp then maybe it wasn't chewed enough
to pass(your RNY?)How are you feeling now after emptying your stomach?
better i'm sure. don,t stress it to much unles it's a repeating thing but
do focus on chewing, hope your feeling better.

I promise that if you can recognize the contents of your stomach that you
are NOT chewing enough. Its really hard to chew a small mouthfull of food
100 times before swallowing it - then waiting at least a minute before
taking the next bite and doing it again -- but thats really what we need to
do or nothing will 'agree with us'. Good luck.

I am thinking that your problem is you are not chewing your food enough. If
after 18 hours you could tell it was shrimp tells me you need to SLOW Down.
Take smaller bites and chew each LITTLE mouthfulls at least 25 time. This
should take care of your problems. Little bites, chew slowly, and then wait
for a minute between each bite.
Try this, it will work for you
