Question:
I have a burning pain in my upper back that radiates to my chest
I am 2 months post-op and there is a burning pain in my back, right at and above the bra, that hurts all the way around to my chest and the diaphram area. Does anyone know what is causing this? I've taken Ibuprofen for it, but it doesn't help. It doesn't feel like indigestion or heartburn. — Gayle G. (posted on May 9, 2000)

Does the pain come & go? Do you still have your gall bladder? Call
your doctor and give him your symptoms....

I work in a chiropractic office and your symptoms sound like you might have
a rib subluxation. Ice your mid back area and if it doesnt help; go see
your surgeon. If he cant figure out the problem. See a CHIROPRACTOR.
Good luck. Please keep me posted.

...I used to have that... it is no fun.. it woke me up at night... the
burning ache started right under my bra in the center and went around to
the right side to my back.. I took pepcid, ginger and sometimes peppermint
tea and it helped eventually... it did turn out to be gall
bladder/stones... I saw HUGE stones on the ultrasound they took... have it
checked out if you still have it... Take Care...

Hey Gayle: I had the exact same symptoms at about the same time after my
surgery. I asked here and got the same answers about possible gall
bladder. I waited to see the doctor because it didn't seem to be terrible
pain. I hurt the most at night and in bed. It did pass and now I rarely
have the pain. I wouldn't wait if I were you. Next time I will go and
have it checked. Good luck.

Hi Gayle, Do you still have your gallbladder? It sounds like gallbladder
pain to me. Hope this helps!

Gayle: I have a pain like you describe and my doc says it is muscle pain
because I'm still trying to protect my stomach muscles. I use a heating
pad for relief. However, I do not have a gallbladder and that would be
worth checking out. Hope you find relief soon.

DOES YOUR PCP KNOW THIS? IF NOT GO TO HIM/HER STAT! Reason i say that is
because it may be cardiac related, or may not. Good way to tell cardiac
pain from skeletal pain is by pressing on it or taking a deep breath, if
the pain increases with touch or deep breathing it's mostly related to
inflamation than cardiac, but go see your doctor! Alot of obese people
suffer from a process called (SPELLING) COSTOCHONDITIS, an inflamation of
the cartlidge betwenn the ribs, To be safe GO TO YOUR DOCTOR,
