Question:
Has anyone had a panniculectomy performed at the same as a RNY procedure?
My appt with the surgeon for a RNY procedure is April 28, I have also been referred by a plastic surgeon for a medically necessary panniculectomy. I am wondering if anyone has had these two procedures perfomed at the same time? How was recovery? I am hopeing they do mine at the same time! Any advice from anyone would be appreciated. Thank-you so much. Sincerely, Sarah Brackett [email protected] — Sarah B. (posted on April 6, 2000)

Sarah - please email me if you do not get a response. I belong to another
support list and there are several individuals that had both procedures
simultaneously. They had very positive remarks. With your permission, I
would forward your email address to the list and ask that they contact you
directly.

I have heard of patients having these operations simultaneously; however,
my surgeon is against it. He recommends his patients be AT LEAST one year
post-op from WLS and very near their goal. He added that if the
panniculectomy was done at the time of wls that the probability of
reoperation was high because of the rapid weight loss. Good luck.
