Question:
Has anyone had or have information on Thigh Lifts?
I have spoken to individuals who have lost 150 lbs + and they sometimes have trouble with sagging skin on their thighs. This may not be a problem for some but I have a friend who has lost 212 lbs. She said it is actually "painful" when she jogs from the flapping skin. She wants a thigh lift. However, I have read that I thigh lift leaves you with very unsightly scarring? Is this true? Are there any experiences on this procedure that someone can share? Thanks in advance! — Toni K. (posted on February 28, 2000)

I am investigating thigh lifts among other procedures at present and my doc
says the scar is a bit worse to see long term because it is a verticat line
on your leg instead of a horizontal one along a natural fold or line as in
the tummy tuck surgery. For my money a scar is better than a huge bulgy bag
of skin there. But I'm trying to decide how best to combine the
reconstructive surgeries I need to look ok with the least expense and the
least risk of further complications with blod clots and PE's etc. I wanted
to do the thigh lift and the tummy tuck together. One doc said he thinks
it's too much at once. Another said he thought it was ok. Anybody have
any thoughts on this? later on I'd like to do the upper arms and some neck
and jowl tucks.

My surgeon does a thigh lift and places the scars at the fold between the
hip and leg, so they are concealed unless you are going to wear a thong to
the beach! There is also a "body lift" which I have seen on the
web. It combines a tummy tuck and thigh lift, and leaves a scar on your
lower hip that goes completely around the body. Do a web search for
"body lift" and you will come up with some sites that do this.
I'm going to have a brachioplasty (arm lift) next month. My arms are
driving me crazy... they are like flags flapping in the breeze when I
exercise. They're gone as of March 21! Everything else will have to wait.
