Question:
Has anyone else gained weight after nausea stopped?
I had open rny on Jan.6, I had a really hard time afterwards with nausea, vomiting, dry heaving & fatigue. Now I feel great, but I have gained back 6 pounds of the 40 I lost in just a week. Has this happened to anyone else? What's going on and am I going to continue to gain? Did I do this for nothing? — Georgia W. (posted on February 25, 2000)

I wouldn't worry to much yet. It is probably you body just rehydrating
itself. You probably were really dehydrated during all the nausea and
vomiting. Watch what you eat. Lay off any salty foods. Make sure you are
getting your water in. If after another week you are still gaining and
don't honestly know why. I would contact my surgeon to see if there could
be another problem.

Georgia the weight gain is something that happens to us all.. No, you
did not do this for nothing.... Our bodies accumulate fluids at
different times of the month and from time to time, just our bodies
getting used to the new anatomy. Maybe your past nausea and vomiting was
part being dehydrated.. Your body may now be acclimating.. Don't
worry eat your three meals stay within the calorie amount your doctor
set for you.. (I never go over 800 calories, however, most days it's 600)
Get in all your proteins, Be sure and drink lots of water between
meals..

SOunds like water gain since it happened after a week of vomiting and
nausea.
Keep to your program and the ponds will fall off.
