Question:
insurance pay for a revision?

I'm 5 1/2 years post opp and I have gained 34 1/2 pounds. I think my stomach has stretched out. My sister in Calif. had Proximal RU EN Y Gastric Bypass on June 3,1998 by Dr. Wesley Clark in San Diego. She has lost 187 pounds. I had a distal and lost 90 and gained 34 1/2 back. Could some staples have come undone? Or could it just be stretched? She claims that hers won't stretch out because her was done the lesser curvature of the stomach. What do you think the chances of me having mine revised? I work for AT&T and I have Prudential Healthcare POS.    — Cheryl H. (posted on February 1, 2000)

I am pre-op 2/19/00 and am having gastric bypass open rny. However, my doctor says the stomach will stretch with any of the surgeries. He says I must stay away from carbonated drinks because they are the worst for stretching the stomach. Your sister is very wrong. As for the insurance covering revision, I believe in some cases it does. You should check it out.
