Hello... I had the Open RNY with gall bladder removal on August 30, 1999...
I am 34 years old, 5 ft 11 and was at my highest weight of 288... I had no
post op problems.. I only took one dose of liquid pain meds when I got
home, after a 5 days hospital stay, and it was no longer needed... I took
alot of 'diva naps' during the day :-) got used to my Mom and boyfriend
waiting on me hand and foot and at about 6 weeks I started getting more
strength and stamina.. Today I am down 68lbs!! several inches!! from size
24 to 16!! bmi has dropped 10 points!! and I feel great and am still
excited about the changes my body and mind are going thru... I don't know
what specific questions you have about the surgery but you can e-mail me if
you like.. as you can see I love talking about it.. I remember the early
days like it was yesterday.. Take Care

I am having open RNY on 2/18/00. I can sympathize. I just got through
with a dozen tests on the 26th and have several more scheduled on the 9th
of Feb. Just getting through the psych eval was amazingly painful. But, I
made it through it and scared to death. Hang in there and just remember it
will be wonderful in the end. Good luck and God Bless

Alyssa,
I am 9 days postop with open rny and gall bladder removal.
I am doing very well, off all pain meds, walking, starting
to care for the house and kids again, and generally recooperating
well. If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me at
[email protected]. God won't lead you down the path and
leave you hanging!! Take care and good luck!

I had an open RNY March 8, 1999. The pain was not as bad as I feared. I
was mobile a lot faster than I hoped for but it took a long long time to
get all my energy back. It took a good six months for me to get back to
work. But on the bright side - I started at 446 pounds and last week
weighed 282. I can't keep up with clothes - by the time I get used to a
pair of jeans they are too big - oh well!!
The time in the hospital won't be much fun but it finally is worth it.
E-mail me if you want to talk some more @ [email protected]
