Can you apply to two companies at once
I was just denied surgery thu cigna hmo i have the availability to get Aetna us health care thru my employer am i breaking any insurance morals if i sign up for aetna now and try to get them to approve the surgery while im fighting with cigna to approveit — Jeffrey S. (posted on October 21, 1999)

Since Cigna is your primary insurance, I would suggest that you exhaust all
your options through them first. This is because Aetna will inevitably
have your COB (co-ordination of benefits) information and will know that
Cigna is your primary carrier. They will want to see the end results of
your request and appeals with Cigna before moving ahead with a request
through their company. This way, if Cigna denies you again, you can then
get all that paperwork together and submit it with your NEW request to
Aetna. Are you actually covered under Aetna yet? You see, if you tried to
go through Aetna at the same time they would just defer the decision to
your primary coverage. Anyway, hope this helps you out. BTW, make sure
your physician knows EVERYTHING about your insurance situation, too.
