Fobi pouch is a variation of the vbg with a sort of gastric bypass it works
by limiting
food intake and bypassing a smaller part of the intestines.
If you go to pacificsurgery.com you will get a description of
some of the different surgeries. The RNY is a Roux N Y procedure they
named
it that because the way they rearrange your intestines it looks like a y.
The procedure is done
two different ways they reduce the size of your stomach to about 2 oz or
less sometimes and bypass a proximal(short)
portion of your intestines. It has a pretty good success rate, but in my
opinion is not the surgery for obese people who
are volume eaters. If you are heavy heavy sugar eater it may be the surgery
for you. The side effect of the fobi pouch and RNY
is vomiting and dumping when you eat too much/too fast or sugar. With the
surgery I had the Gastric Bypass with the duoedonal switch
the stomach is left at 6-10oz so we can eat more normally, but they bypass
the portion of the intestines that digests fat, so we
cannot handle fatty foods. If we eat a high amount of fat we get gas or
diarrea.

RNY is Roux-en-y In this surgery a small pouch is created by stapeling.
Sometimes the doctor removes excess stomach. Mine did. Then a y shaped
section of the intestine is attached to the DUODENUM(the first segment of
small intestine) as well as a portion of the JEJUNUM (the second segment)
Also the opening from your stomach is smaller to help the food stay in
stomach longer so you stay full longer. If you search the web for roux-en-y
surgery they have a picture of the procedure in one of them.

the fobi pouch is very different from other surgeries. it invloves no
staples therefore elimanating the chance of staple disrubances. fobi makes
a pouch out of your tummy that is very small, he totally seperates it from
the large stomach. the large somach still remains in tact and working,
still making the "juices" essential for digestion. there is also
a small ring placed at the top of the pouch that keeps us fuller, longer.
it also prevents us from eating too much at a time and stretchng the pouch.
also, our intestines are by-passed by a few feet so that we cannot absorb
all the calroies/fat that we put in our body. the fobi pouch is also 100%
reversable if the need should arise. his web site is www.cstobesity.com
