Question:
has anyone had wls after 2 heart attacks and stenting?
I'm just wondering if anyone has had 2 heart attacks and still got the wls surgery? I have been through the process and had to lose 20lbs before the Dr would do my wls and I did that but in the mean time I had a 2nd heart attack and I got another stent I just wantted to know if me having the 2nd heart attack is going to prevent me from having my wls — Debbie B. That really makes you a high risk patient. I did not have any stents, but
I had a blood clot on the lower left venticle of my heart, had a stroke,
and a illregular heart beat. I had a WLS surgeon that had been a Heart
Surgeon before he changed to WLS, so I was very fortunate, but he was very
straight forward with me, lose 20 lbs, and I had to have a surgical
clearance from my Cardiologist, and my WLS surgeon and my Cardiologist had
to consult on my surgery. I did have some nail bitting days waiting for
them to get back with me, but they both agreed that the benefits of the WLS
out weighed the risk from the surgery. I am saying alittle prayer for you
that you are able to have your surgery, and that there are no problems.

thats a medical question that you should be asking your doctor...not the
general public

I didn't have the heart attacks, but I had an angioplasty 10 years ago and
then this past August another anioplasty with a stint. I had spoken to the
cardiologisty about WLS and he agreed it would be to my benefit, but first
wanted to do test. That was when he found the second blocked artery and
did the angioplasty and stint. After that was resolved he again did more
studies and said I was cleared for the WLS. I had my surgery 12/14/04
(minus 64lb) and have had no cardiac or WLS problems.
