How long does it normally take for Aetna to approve?

It took me 10 months of playing by their rules to
get approved. However, if you mean, how long after
you filed your paper work to get a response, it took
about 30 days each time.

My doctor sent in my letter to Aetna and 4 days later I was approved. My
BMI was 52 so maybe that helped push matters along. I sent a lot of
medical records along with the letter as well, including notes from my PCP,
OB-GYN, and specialists which all said "obese." My
endocrinologist who I only saw once wrote a letter as well recommending me
for surgery. Try and have all your ducks in a row before sending your
information to them and you should have your answer in no time. Good Luck!

It took me about 6 months to be approved. It happened after my second
appeal. I had everything Aetna needed and it was almost as if they weren't
even looking at what I sent in. I finally got action after I started
calling almost every day.
