Question:
Is there a post op diet plan online I could copy?

I am 3 yrs post op and I really don't think I have ever seen a long term post op diet. I would love to see one just to go by and know that I am on track. I have not lost any more weight in the last year, but am managing to maintain. Just want to keep myself on track as I am able to eat more food.    — peppermintp (posted on August 11, 2004)

Didn't your surgeon give you a diet plan? Is there a dietician that you can go to that is familiar with WLS patients that can guide you?

The pouch rules describes the "ideal meal" for maintaining your weight as a post-op. Personally, I think if you eat protein first, and avoid refined flour and sugar (ie white flour and white sugar), you've pretty well got it covered.

I think if you're this far out, and maintaining, you must be doing it right. Just be sure to get your protein, vitamins and calcium in. My surgeon's long-term expectation is that I don't follow a specific "diet" but that I get my protein first, and then eat a balanced diet of veggies, fruits and whole grains. He even allows refined carbs if the person can handle it (I know I need to stay away from refined carbs, so I severely limit them). Best wishes to you, and keep up the good work!

It's time to join the Grad list. No guarantee that you'll get the rest of the wt off, but there's also the trick of maintaining the loss you have achieved. There is a lot of combined long term experience on this list and I'd recommend it in conjunction with this site and any local lists you use. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Graduate-OSSG
