Question:
TOPS for support group meetings??
Hi, I was just wondering if anyone knows much of TOPS programs, (taking off pounds sensibly). My surgeons meetings have stopped and have no meetings to attend. A friend of mine joined TOPS and it sounds great, I would like to attend a meeting on thursday. It sounds like a good support group, she said they have members who have had WLS. The price is very resonable. I have surpassed my set goals and working to maintain and I am one who needs support group meetings. Thanx in advance for any advice. I HAVE BEEN IN T.O.P.S. FOR ABOUT 9 YEARS. CURRENTLY I DO NOT BELONG TO
ONE, BUT I HAVE FOUND THAT IT IS GREAT AT ANY LEVEL OF WEIGHT
LOSS/MAINTENANCE YOU'RE AT. IT HELPS TO BE "ACCOUNTABLE" TO THE
SCALE EVERY WEEK & ALSO TO OTHERS IN YOUR GROUP. GIVE IT A TRY---UOU
DON'T HAVE TO STAY IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT ; ) BE SURE TO TRY A COUPLE OF
DIFFERENT MEETINGS BEFORE YOU JOIN......HTH

This is so ironic! I just got a card from my mothers friend inviting me to
join TOPS. She said that they have quite a few WLS members and they all
give each other support. It sounds like they do a lot of fun things. I
think I am going to try it!

TOPS is great! I haven't been in a few months because I stopped dieting
:(, but they are really great for support. People there are on all kinds
of eating programs. They don't make you follow a particular diet. I go to
one in Illinois and I am really thinking about going back after my surgery
on the 31st.

I attend TOPS right now. Havent had my surgery yet. I really enjoy the
TOPS meetings. Some at TOPS have their opinions about the WLS, but overall
the majority are really good about it. I belong to a TOPS group online as
well. According to the person who runs it, she said that they should put
you into another division, but that after my surgery I should still
continue to go. It will help me stay focus. So really consider it. I
really love my TOPS group.

I am a member of TOPS in Canada and will continue for life. They are a great
group and a good source of encouragement. I started a group in my area,
led the group for a year and then transferred to my origional group as I
needed more support for myself. Enjoy TOPS...yes you will be in a new
division after surgery but I don't know what number it is. Right now I'm
division 1 at 340+ lbs. Can't wait to be a looser! luck to all. I've
just been approved for surgery in the US.
