Question:
18 MONTHS OUT AND STARTED LOSING MY HAIR NOW?
Hello, when I was about six months out I noticed some hair loss for about 2 months. It really wasn't that bad. But NOW at 18 months out I started losing it again and this time I really notice it. I always start my day with a protein shake and usually have one before bed as my treat. I eat mainly protein and veggies, very little carbs. I did switch to the birth control pill, I was using the patch and I started Wellbutrin. I've been having alot of hormonal problems. It's really scaring me, any thoughts on why it would start now? I can tell you with almost 100% confidence it's the wellbutrin! I was on
it prior to surgery and started losing my hair about 3 weeks after starting
it. I told my doctor about the hairloss and he refused to believe it was
the wellbutrin. I did a yahoo search for wellbutrin and hairloss and you
wouldn't believe how many sites came up! I decided to take myself off the
wellbutrin and things definitely turned around. I was on it for about 3
months total. I had 2 friends taking it the same time I was and 1 friend
never lost any hair and the other did and took herself off it as well.
Only about 1% experiece hairloss and unfortunately I was in it! Hope this
helps.

I started on Wellbutrin a month ago, and my hair is falling out big time.
I had my labs checked, and they're fine. It's definitely the Wellbutrin.

It's funny how we react differently to drugs. Example I've been taking
Welbutrin SR before WLS. Now I take Welbutrin. Thankfully I have'nt had any
hair loss problems. Perhaps you can change to another anti depressent and
see if the hair loss stops?

Hi Kelly,
I have never had this problem and I know nothing about the medication but
I have two freinds who had a lot of hair loss because of a hormone
imbalance. This alone can cause hairloss. I hope you can get thia
straightened out.

kelly, I am 16 months out and my hair startyed falling out at about two
months and has never stopped. Sometimes it slows down a bit, then starts
falling out again really bad. I drink three shakes a day and take none of
the meds you mentioned and get pleant of protein and vitamins. Nothing
seems to help. Sorry i can't be more encouraging.

I'm not taking any of the medication you are but at 1 year out I started to
lose alot of hair, so I just consumed more protein and that seems to be
helping. My hair in growing in. So I would not blame it all on the drugs it
just may hit people at different times after the surgery.
