Question:
Will I Loose more weight?
I had surgery a year ago this month and have been at a plateau for months. I have lost 100 pounds but still would like to loose about 30-40 more, what should I do? — beachdog (posted on April 18, 2004)

It would help to have more info on your eating and exercise to answer, but
I peeked at your profile ;-) and it says you exercise, specifically, that
you run. If you're doing that -- getting some good heart-pumping exercise
at least 3x a week (5x is better for weight loss, rather than maintenance,
though) is critical. Maybe you can try some other types of cardio exercise
(like swimming, for instance, or an elliptical machine, or biking) to shake
things up. On the other side of the equation, have you tracked your eating
on fitday.com to see exactly where you are with calories, and protein and
carb grams? Track that for awhile, and play with it -- you may be eating
more than you realize, caloriewise, and you may be one of those folks who
will do better with more protein grams and fewer carbs (though I am not a
big fan of super-low carbing, it works for some). Tinker with things a bit
and see if that helps, and be sure to give things time to work -- we don't
lose as fast, but we can still lose, after we're a year or more out.

What's your current eating program? Have you cut out all white carbs?
(White flour and white sugar?)
