Question:
Does anyone know if Trimspa has anything that would bother our stomachs?

My husband purchased some trimspa for himself and after reading about it , it sounded like a good herb to try for overall weight control and energy. But I was wondering if some of the herbs could harm our new stomachs, you know, like aspirin or ibuprofin. thanks, Patti Meadows    — peppermintp (posted on April 11, 2004)

I dont know if it cause any stomach trouble but frankly I think these sorts of things are a grand waste of money. If ANY of them really worked none of us would need WLS. How heavy is your hubby and does he qualify for WLS?

I have a girl who works with me who uses Trimspa, I have never tries it, but have looked at the lable, it dosn't look like there is anything in it that would harm our tummies. I wouldn't recommend using it to lose weight, we need to use our "tool" and new eating habits. However, I have heard of people using Trimspa to curb appetites. I am fortunate that I haven o sense of hunger at almost 8 months post-op. If all else...ask your doctor or surgeon, more than likely they will tell you not to use it.

I'm going to agree with Bob here and say, NO!!!. Use your pouch and your rules. If any of that stuff worked on a LONG term basis, there would be no need for WLS or this websight. Use the eating habits that you are suppose to use for the pouch and you will be fine. Take your vitamins and suppliments and your energy level should be fine. I know I have more energy than I've ever had in my life. Good luck to you :-)

I had to jump in here and say something. Don't jump on her about "using the tool" - that's NOT what she was asking about! There are no studies to say whether the herbs in this stuff are safe for anyone - gastric bypass or otherwise. It's not approved by the FDA. Personally, I stay away from the herbal stuff - there is no standardization and no studies to show whether Trimspa ("now ephedra-free!") or any of the other junk out there helps with weight loss or energy. The "energy" is probably from some caffeine-containing herb (kola nut in the ingredients?). Have a cup of strong coffee and you will probably get the same effect! The only thing this will do is make your wallet lighter, make your heart beat faster and possibly give you the "jitters". Do a little research on the net and see what you can find under consumer reviews. Why take a chance on this stuff? Maybe it could cause cancer down the road - no telling at this point.

Energy? If you or your husband feel your energy is flagging, I'd go get some bloodwork done and be sure there's not a B-12 or iron deficiency, or some other explanation, that might need to be addressed directly. I'd also ask the doctor or pharmicist (or both) whether or how this can be taken with all the calcium and iron supplements we should be taking as post-ops. I wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole myself (it's enough for me to see that it's Anna Nicole Smith selling it, to send me in the other direction), but if you're gonna give it a whirl, and you want to be sure it won't be harmful, I'd ask your doc and/or pharmacist, rather than seek an internet "blessing" from your peers.

I HAD to jump in here. I think Trimspa for postops is a really BAD idea. Does the box not say that those pills swell in your stomach to create the sense of fullness? With our tiny tummies I worry about bread swelling, much less a pill with that exact purpose. My girlfriend (never had surgery), who loves trimspa, says these pills seem to mimick my surgery. They make her full and food seems unappealing. They do offer a little energy, but says they also give her hot flashes. You do have to take them essentially forever. As soon as she slacked off for a couple of days, she was ravenous and gained back 4 of the 10 she lost.

i would like to say the only thing trimspa or and other lose weight with out trying plan / scam is that some one is making a lot of money on it, and at your expense. If any one has any money they were planning to spend/waste on lose weight fast or get rich quick scemes... I am taking donations for my plastic surgery fund.
