Hi! I've made it to 5 weeks, and I feel your pain. I would say check with your physicians plan but mine specifically says no popcorn or nuts until 6 months *sigh*. Good luck to you!

Popcorn CAN be hard on a newly healing pouch - and it's healing for around 6 weeks. Some docs require you wait a full six months...I've heard of some that allow it after a YEAR. It depends on WHICH surgery you've had, what your docs eating protocol is and how well you're doing on other real foods. If you have not progressed to real chewable foods yet then it would certainly NOT be on your list of foods. It's not a liquid or puree or a soft food. Hope that helps!

nope, can't do. it's too soon, if you eat any foods to soon you may get stomach pain or it may feel like a rock is sitting in your stomach. and I tell ya they are no fun. so try to hang on.

Nope - WAAAAAYYYYYY too soon. Besides, popcorn is loaded with carbs and sometimes fat. Try something like mashed potatoes, grits with cheese, oatmeal, yogurt, even mashed up beans that have been very over cooked. The rule I set for myself was if it can't be sucked up through a regular straw, then it's a big NO NO. Good luck.

No way Jose, too soon. You need to let your stomach pouch and all the other areas that were joined together to heal. I could not have any popcorn, seeds or nuts until I was 3 months PO. The kernals and fragments of the seeds and nuts can get caught on those areas and cause irritation or infection. So, do yourself a favor and not eat it. Most people are on soft/pureed foods at your stage of being PO. You should be able to eat some soft meats and yogurt or cheeses. Check with your doctor for food recommendations.

Ditto on others who say no way on the popcorn at three weeks. Even at two years, I cannot handle any popcorn, as it gives me reactive hypoglycemia.

I have never heard of the term "free food" after WLS - water would be free... but that's about it. ANYTHING you put in your mouth counts. If it has calories, carbs, fat, protein, you count it.

Free food? No carb is a free food. I find that pure protein foods are more like a "free" foods for me.

Try some of those Edy's or Dole real fruit surger free Ice pops; cream of chicken/potato/tomato soups. You won't be able to eat much but you will feel more satisfied. I would not try popcorn it could cause problems for the small opening that leads to your smaller stomach. You must do research now on foods that are good as well as healthy so that your WLS will be successful. Also at 3 weeks believe me you're not going to require much food - its your mind that is hungry not your stomach.

They'll help with hunger, cravings, satiety. No to very low sugars, tons o' protein! All good!
