Question:
Who should I use for an appeal attorney in Illinois?
I have been denied do to not being on a "fund approved weight loss program for a year" — Dave S. (posted on March 1, 2004)

Don't tell me... you were denied because you don't have a MD supervised
DOCUMENTED diet of 6 to 12 months??? If that's the case join the crowd. I
have BC/BS of IL PPO just like you, and that's what I was denied with. I
hired Walter Lindstrom a lawyer who helps people with their insurance
appeals and other obesity issues. He is based out of California. I am on
my 3rd appeal and waiting for the final decision from BC. Walter Lindstrom
is at ObesityLaw.com. There is another attorney who helps with insurance
appeals and he's at ObesityLawyer.com. Check out the Illinois State
message board and you can read about others with BC/BS PPO

I wanted to add another thing...I would suggest you start your MD diet now.
I have been going through the appeals process for over 6 months now, and
Blue Cross has not budged even with a lawyer. They may not budge on this
issue. If you do choose to get a lawyer start the diet now anyway. Have
your doctor document that you are dieting and working out. You may have to
visit your doctor monthly for wiegh-in's. See a nutritionist too. You
have to show the inurance that you were serious about losing weight.

I hired Walter Lindstrom and was thrilled with him. He got my denial
turned over on the second level appeal and he will let you know if he
thinks he can win. He is at obesitylaw.com and is worth EVERY penny and
more. Contact Walter.
