Question:
Deserted by my PCP!!
My Kaiser PCP has had my paperwork for weeks, and not only has he done NOTHING with it, but November 28th was his LAST DAY WITH KAISER!! Now I've got to start ALL OVER!! I'm in the south Orange County area of California. Is there someone in that area who's had WLS through Kaiser who can recommend a PCP who will follow through, believes in WLS and won't jerk me around??? — Dream Achiever (posted on December 5, 2003)

Call members services too and see if they can help you. I'm positive
Kaiser has patient advocates and ask if they have one that will work with
you on this. It is so unfair when something like this happens ... I hope
you can resolve it quickly.

I had no problems with Kaiser. Something very similar happened to me. I
finally called my new PCP that Kaiser assigned and explained what had
happened. She was great and did everything she could to help push me
through. However, I do have to note that it was the Kaiser Nutritionist
that actually knew more about the whole WLS Kaiser procedures and she
nurtured me through the whole process. She made sure that all the paperwork
was there to be submitted to the committee for the referral. So if you are
working with a Kaiser nutrionist (which is required by Kaiser), check with
them and see where you stand in the whole process.
