Laurie, you will notice that every few months, you will be able to eat more
volume and that is normal as our pouches stretch the way they should.
Theres a difference between eating a few more ounces at a meal and grazing,
which is small amounts all day long, usually of not so good for you foods.
Not losing in 5 weeks is not unusual for some, and you are certainly not
thru losing yet. However, to ensure that you are on track, check the
basics: not drinking with or right after meals, getting in enough protein
at meals, eating lo carb and lo or no sugar, watch the snacking (plan your
snacks into your daily diet), lots of water and EXERCISE. If you are
following these, then your plateau will eventually move.

Dear Laurie,
I had my surgery on 6/3/03 and have lost 83 pounds. You will be able to
eat more the further away from your date you get. Try to turn to excercise
when you feel stressed about "life". I bought a pilates 20
minute work-out and try to do that when I feel I want to open the fridge or
snack cabinet. We tend to forget that we got this way over a period of
years, and it takes time to get it off. In the meantime we need to work on
the emotional attachment to food....and since you can see there is a
problem that is half the battle. I have done so much soul serching on this
journey...it has helped me alot!!
Also plateaus happen as our bodies start to adjust to a new metabolism and
all the changes. That sometimes can cause some unnecessary eating because
we are afraid that this is all we can lose. Mix things up a bit. I found
upping my cardio workout and lowering my carb intake helps alot. Good Luck
to you and feel free to E-mail if you need any help.
