Question:
Not A Question-Sugar Free Syrup-I swear taste just like regular

I am 7 1/2 mos post op and down 100 lbs,For the most part I stay away from carbs but have slipped alot lately, but I'm human. Anyways I had been craving waffles/pancakes just normal breakfast foods that I used to eat that I have not been able to in quite some time. Today as I was in Whole Foods Market I bought some sugar free syrup, and I've tried all of them out there-Smuckers, Log Cabin, Carys,Atkins-and they are all horrible and watery. But today the Sugar Free God must have been looking down on me because for 5 bucks I bought the thickest, richest 35calories per serving sugar free syrup sweetened with malitol and it absolutely delicious-I can't believe it is sugar free, now I'm not saying lets' all eat pancakes and waffles again, but for those recipes that call for syrup such as sweet potatoes or things like that there is something out there that actually taste good and I just wanted to share it with the rest of the AMOS community- If you can't find it here is the link. the name of the syrup is called Joe's Natural Maple Flavor Syrup-http://www.josephslitecookies.com/index.cfm?method=shopping_Category&productID=2    — TotallyTori (posted on October 26, 2003)

REALLY? I've so missed syrup. Rather than 1/2C of the s/f water, I've been opting for a tsp of the real thing. LOL! But that's for my twice annual pancake--what good is it if it isn't swimming, I always say. Thanks for telling us!

Be very careful with Maltitol. A few months ago I had some sugar free taffy with maltitol in the ingredients. By the time I got home, I was in agony. The worst gas pains I ever had.. so bad that at first I didn't know why I was sick. Took 6 hours to get the stuff out of my system. I no longer eat anything with Maltitol in it and usually opt away from sugar free stuff except sugar free popsicles. LAP RNY 10/8/02 - down 130. Trying to lose 3-5 more but am happy this way if I have reached the limit.

LOL....Michelle, I'm with you. I'm 3 years post-op and I've had pancakes or french toast probably 7-8 times total in 3 years. Their just not the same with brown sugared water poured on them. I was always used to be one of those people who'd you wanna ask "do you want some pancakes with your syrup?" Swim, swim.

And why can't someone just make a nice thick one with Splenda instead of malitol? Geez....now I'm craving Mrs. Butterworth's -- the world's best syrup.

Thanks! I'd love to try it. I bought some syrup at Cracker Barel that is really good. But it is watery thin. It is VERMONT Sugar Free. It is sweetened with Splenda and fortified with 6 vitamins and minerals. A serving is 1/4th a cup. Zero fat and protein. Carbs 4g. Sodium 120 mg. Sorbitol 3g. 10 Calories. Vitamins are: 25% of each, Thiamin, Niacin, B6, B12, Pantothenic Acid, and Zinc. Anyway, even my Mom loves it and says it's as good as regular. I think it is good, but not that good. lol But it is enjoyable. However in my case even BEFORE wls, I never cared to much for sweet syrup. I'd rather load a pancake with lots of butter and a tad of salt. But a very small portion of syrup on the side to dunk a piece or two into is good. Anyway, for people who have a Cracker Barel nearby, try the VERMONT Sugar Free. Personally I'd love to try this new kind you mention. Wish I did'nt have to order it as I usually won't order anyway. :( Sounds great though! Thanks! :)

As good as it sounds, I too hate to mail-order things. If I wanted it in two weeks, I'll buy it in two weeks lol. I love to cook my pancakes very thin, like a crepe and then spread no sugar added preserves or jam to it. Yummm!

Great recommendation! There's a Whole Foods less than a mile from home, I look forward to returning to my (very very small portions of) yummy wholegrain wild rice buckwheat pancakes. Ahhhhhhh breakfast! :) (Open RNY 10/25/03 226 start)
