Question:
is this possible??

I am 13 days out of Lap RNY. I weighted last friday when i was 10 days out. I had lost 27 pds. Is this possible. I know the scale was accurate (i made DH and kids weight first lol) and i did it 3 times with the same result.I weighed 260 the morning after surgery, and on friday i weighed 233...if so ive probably lost another 5 pds...i just cant get it in my head if this is possible any comments are appreciated..Lap RNY 9-16-03 down 27+    — cinamoni (posted on September 29, 2003)

Entirely possible but do not assume it will continue at this pace. Enjoy the wonderful start!

I lost 25 pounds in 14 days. Then nothing for 3 weeks. Now I lose a consisten 1/2-1 pound a day! It will ebb and flow, but never worry. If you are following the plan, it works wonders.

What did you weigh the morning before surgery? I gained 14 pounds in the hospital that came off within 3 days of surgery and another 12 by 6 days out. If I added them together I would have lost 26 pounds in 6 days but the bulk of that was from all of the fluids pumped into me following surgery. I did however lose 36 pounds in the first month post op not counting the 14 gained in the hospital. I have never repeated that but it was a great boost to get me excited to stick with the program. Good luck and enjoy!!!!!

I dropped 80 pounds my first month and then about 40 pounds in the second month-- the change was noticeable on a daily basis. It did slow down (thankfully, because I would have looked really silly in toddler clothes). But, I was very happy for the jump start and the tremendous motivation is provided.

I am now 18 days post op and I am down 33 lbs. My doctor says it's mostly water weight. I was shocked though!! It's like it just melts off! Isn't it great?? I realize that it will slack off here as I increase my diet. It's still a great thing! Good luck!

I totally understand! When I went to my 1st postop appt (13days after surgery) I had lost 25.5lbs. It seemed so impossible even as I told people what I lost. I was told a lot of it was water but I was quite pleased. I am 2 1/2 months postop and have lost 53lbs. Hope all continues to go well for you! God bless!!

Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous!!!! Congrats!! I remember weighing for the first time one week post-op and was amazed that I had lost 16 lbs!! As others have warned, it does slow down so don't be freaked out if you don't see such a big loss all the time. And don't weight yourself too often--it will drive you batty. You're doing great!
