Question:
Too much too fast?
I started at 257 and now only 4 1/2 months later I weigh 159. Thats a loss of 98lbs. Is this too much too fast? I eat all the time, I take my vitamins and feel great, but I just wonder is this indeed healthy? — Brandee W. (posted on September 21, 2003)

No, I don't think that's too much too fast. I think you're lucky. :o)
Congratulations and keep up the good work. S

My weight loss has also been very fast (over 80 pounds the first month) and
over 250 pounds lost (that's more than half of my starting weight) in my
first 11 months. My doctors (both surgeon and PCP) did extensive blood
work after the first month and then periodically since then just to make
sure that the weight loss was purely the result of compliance. So far,
they have been surprised but happy for me and have assured that my weight
loss, although fast, is not making my unhealthy.

That is definitely fast, but keep in mind that everyone loses at different
rates. You should see a slow down soon and altho you will continue to lose
weight for many more months, your body should settle at a comfortable (for
you) weight. If ever you want to help it slow down or reverse the loss,
just stop following the pouch rules and eat more calories per day.
Congrats on feeling better..

I too am down 100 pounds as of 5/12 surgery (Lap RNY) I however started out
about a 100 pounds heavier than you so proportionately I have ALOT more
than you to lose.
Nonetheless, I feel great about it, I keep losing, and love the renewed
feeling of "living" I now have.
