Question:
Problems with JMS underwear???

When my underwear started be become baggy, I bought a smaller size and a new style. I used to wear Just My Size cotton briefs, but I decided to get their new cotton stretch because it covered my stomach better...my stomach would hang out the legs of the other ones. My mom had some stretch ones in the same size I bought so she gave those to me. A pair in the my pack came unswen around one of the legs so I sent it back and they sent me two new pairs which is good, since they seem to keep ripping apart on me. I think I've lost about 4 pair from them ripping apart at the seem at the top of the crotch area. I never hear them rip, I only notice when I go to the bathroom and see that my panites have a huge hole. They are not too tight, although sometimes they seem to shift and feel weird when I walk. The replacement pairs they sent even came a part. I don't understand why some are doing this but not others. Anyone having the same problem? Or suggestions for a different brand?    — Sarahlicious (posted on September 19, 2003)

Hanes Her Way is the cheapest in my area, and I've never had the problem you're mentioning.

I can't help with the recent quality problems. I especially like the sport ones with the wide waistband. They seemed to last me real good. One trick I found by accident was to wear my underwear backwards when I had my big belly. It covered my belly and lessened the rashes from skin on skin contact at the groin area where my underwear didn't properly cover my belly. Just thought I'd share. Did that for years and it worked well.

I've been wearing the ones you describe, with the wide waistband, for a good 1-2 years, but have been wearing JMS for many years. The only problems I have had were if they were a little too tight the leg hole elastic stitching would rip and the elastic would come loose. I have never had them rip where you indicate unless they were so old they belonged in the rag bin anyway. I like the ones with the spandex because they do hold their shape and do not leave the roll hanging out. The plain cotton ones stretch out when worn a short time. I cannot imagine what is going on with the ones you purchased. I'm getting ready to buy some new smaller ones and will likely buy the same ones.

Hi Sarah- I had to search thru my dresser for this one :o) I had a problem with the JMS higher-cut (pretty colors) bunching up at the crotch. (You've heard the saying "don't get your panties in a bunch?" LOL). I found that the briefs (all plain white) fit me much better. They seem to have more belly room, and the leg holes are designed to fit a little lower on the thigh so I don't have that bunching up problem. I think Shelly had a great idea about wearing them (the colored ones) backward, as my stomach is way bigger than my butt and I could use that extra room there. Good Luck :o) Mea

I had this problem with the Hanes Her Way. My though was that I was constantly pulling them up., and they were tearing at the crotch seam and around the legs. Oh, and I thought I was the only one with those mega leg holes where my belly hung out through. I hate the way that looks, and won't wear any hi-cut or other than brief styles until I have the skin removed. Best of luck!!!

I would suggest not putting your panties in the dryer. I don't dry undies or bras and they last a lot longer.

I love JMS cotton stretch, it is all I buy. Don't ever wash your panties with Clorox or other bleach, it eats the thread and they will unravel. I had that problem years ago with another JMS type. It's a shame they use nice fabrics and cheap thread. Hopefully we will both have more choices in our undies in the very near future. Good luck to you.
