The easiest thing for me to stomach was mashed potatoes. Now i know they
have no protein that is why I added no flavored protein powder. 6/27/03

I am six weeks post op and down 47. I have had real good luck with shell
fish (Crab, shrimp). My problem is I can't stand the protein shakes.

You have to remember that your new little pouch has been through alot and
it is still healing. I still have trouble with scrambled eggs. Our new
pouches also seem to have a mind of their own. Try Bush's Fat Free Refried
Beans, with a little cheese. Just 1/4 cup at first to see how you do.
Also, remember to eat slowly and chew, chew, chew. I eat Blue Bunny Fat
Free Yogurt to help get my protein in. You will find that you might have
days that you irritate your pouch. The feeling like you swallowed a rock.
Then you just go back to the very soft food, yogurt, puddings, S/F
Popsicles, refried beans, broths, soups for a couple of days. Hope this
helps.

Patty, Is your pain under your right breast? I had intence pain under my
right breast 7 weeks after surgery and it was my gall bladder. They did
about 4 different kinds of tests befor confirmation that it was gall
bladder pain. It is not too unusual to have that problem due to the rapid
weight loss. I had never had problems with my gall bladder befor that
time. I had it taken out lap after the testing. The surgery for it is
NOTHING compared to your original surgery. Good Luck!

Its not unusual to have some pouch pain when switching from liquids to
solids. The question is do you have intense pain or vomit with just a
little bit of food? If so, I would think possible stricture. If you are
able to handle some foods and not others, I'd say your new pouch is just
getting used to solids and when you find something that doesn't agree, put
it aside for a few weeks and then try it again. For chicken, try stewed
chicken in a crock pot and the dark meat-it goes down easier. Easier soft
foods are tunafish salad, refried beans with cheese, cold shrimp, soft
white steamed fish, mushy veggies....
