Question:
Hair loss at 8 1/2 mos.out

I have majorily started losing my hair and I am almost 9 mos. out. I have never heard of it this late??? When will it stop and will it grow back?    — JoAnn571 (posted on August 15, 2003)

Your profile did not indicate if you had hair loss around month 3 post op (which is when most of us start the loss which usually ends in 3 months). Is this the first time you have lost hair? I know of one other person in my support group who started losing her hair at 10 mo post-op and she had labs done which showed she was low in protein. Low protein can lead to hair loss. Even if you think that you are taking in enough protein, you may not be absorbing it all and your labs would let you know that.

I started losing hair at 8 months out. It stopped when I upped my protien. It starts up again if I get slack on my protien intake.
