Question:
Is there a way to keep a hernia from getting worse?

I'm almost 4 months post-op open RNY and over the past month I have noticed a hard area to the left of my incision. When I cough it bulges out and when I'm standing it sometimes sticks out farther than the other side. In the past week I've had some minor pain in the area, sometimes not even enought to take tylenol for but it still concerns me. My PCP is out for a couple of weeks and I'm sure it will take awhile to see my surgeon. Is there anything I can do to make sure the situation doesn't get worse?    — Sarahlicious (posted on July 27, 2003)
