just wondering if blueshield of cal ppo will pay for tummy tuck, breast lift, bat wing removal or any kind of skin removal? — laurie D. (posted on July 21, 2003)

Laurie,
I don't have BCBS of California, but I do have BCBS of Excellus a PPO as
well, Getting the approval for WLS was easy only took 2 days, now getting
an approval for PANNI / Tummy Tuck, Well that's a whole other issue, I'm in
the appeal process now, they denied me stating that they deemed that it was
cosmetic surgery... All I can say is get with your PCP, your WLS surgeon,
Your GYNO, and if you see a chriporator get with him too, make sure you
have all your letters from all the above doctor's mentioned backing you up
for medical nessesity of the surgery, keep your fingers crossed, I'll keep
you posted over here...
Best of luck, from what I've heard it just depends on how it's presented,
as some get approved 1st time around others have to go threw the appeal
process.... go figure...
Best of luck.
